Drop in an MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, M4V, WMV, FLV, MPEG, 3GP or TS file and it comes back as an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio — the combination Discord plays inline in a channel instead of turning into a download link. Output is standard yuv420p with the moov atom moved to the front, so playback starts immediately.
How the target size is hit
The compressor reads your clip's duration, subtracts the audio track's bitrate from the budget you picked, and spends everything that is left on the video stream. It encodes once at that bitrate, measures the result, and if the file still overshoots the target it re-encodes 15% tighter. Two attempts, then it stops and tells you the real number instead of pretending.
Which Discord limit is which

Discord's own File Attachments FAQ states non-Nitro uploads max out at 20 MB and that upload limits are being experimented with, so check what your client actually allows before you pick. That FAQ and the Nitro benefits page do not agree on the paid ceiling, which is why the last row marks the smaller of the two figures instead of picking a winner.
Why there is no upload
Everything runs in a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg inside this tab. No file is sent to a server, no account is created, nothing is stored between visits, and there is no queue. Close the tab and the work is gone — including the result, so download it first.
Questions
Is this the same as a Discord video compressor or compress video for discord tool?
Yes. Compressing a video for Discord, using a Discord video compressor, or just getting video compression for Discord under a size cap are all the same job, and this page does it in one place.
Will the video play inside the chat, or become a link?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is what Discord plays inline. Other containers often get treated as a plain file attachment, which is why the output here is always MP4.
How much smaller will it get?
Whatever your target asks for. The bar above shows the exact cut before you start, calculated from your file's size and the size you picked.
Does it lose quality?
Some, always — that is what compression is. The bitrate is chosen to spend the whole budget you gave it, so the loss is as small as that target allows. If a clip matters, pick a larger target.
Can I compress several videos at once?
No. One file at a time, on purpose — it keeps the page fast and the memory use predictable.
What is the largest file it will take?
The limit is your device's memory, not an arbitrary cap. Files of a few hundred megabytes are fine on a normal laptop; very large files may run out of memory in the tab.
Does it work on a phone?
